We recently had a request from The Canadian Museum of Nature to do Custom Organic Cotton Tshirts with their Logos Screenprinted on the front, back and sleeve. Being as they have a very colorful and beautiful logo, we had to way to go about it. One way was to do the color separations and print it in four color process. This screenprinting method would have been easier for us but knowing that CMYK Tshirt printing gives a result with lots of halftones (a bunch of tiny little dots) which does well when printing full color photos, it would not yield a perfectly printed organic Tshirt. We therefore used Pantone PMS colors on separate screens and the result was magnificent. Each color in the logo that we printed on the Promotional T-shirt was razor sharp and filled completely with ink without having to resort to seeing halftones.
The tshirt they wanted to use was a black tshirt and their logo had six colors in it. We also had to do a flash, which is a initial base coat of white under anywhere that would be printed to ensure that the colors would be screenprinted as bright as if they were printed directly onto a white tshirt. The result: Magnificent!
